Acne Prone and Oily Skin
Most, who suffer from acne prone skin (or oily skin), find it bothersome and embarrassing. Products that can help are those that help reduce sebum production, thereby controlling seborrhea, those that speed up the shedding of superficial skin cells (desquamation) and those that help fight bacterial infection caused by microbial colonisation and reduce inflammation as well as calming down spots, papules and pustules.
Look for a cleanser specially designed for acne. These products often contain Glycolic Acid Salicylic Acid or Lactic Acid, which help to clear acne sores. You should clean your face gently, as irritating the acne breakouts may worsen the acne or cause scarring. When washing your face, use your hands, as any face flannel or other scrubbing material may cause acne sores to rupture.
For a moisturiser, use only light, non-comedogenic moisturisers. Many oil-free moisturisers contain anti-bacterial agents for acne-prone skin. Use an oil-free foundation. Heavy makeup or other cosmetic products block pores and invariably just make matters worse.
