Glycation

If you have too much sugar in the body, then this can start to accumulate. This then gets together with protein molecules and starts to form some really unhealthy and weak molecules called Advanced Glycation End products or AGEs.

Glycation was originally considered to be an issue mainly associated with diabetes. It is now, however, recognised as an important factor generally in skin ageing.

These AGEs give out toxins that interfere with cellular metabolism which manifests itself as wrinkling and loss of elasticity in the skin as well as a compromising the skin's barrier functions. This Glycation can also cause the slowing down of cell turnover, which shows as a loss of volume in the skin.

The answer, of course, is less sugar.

Topical skin care aids to the issue can be found here. GloTherapeutics amongst others, offer products hich can help . A good eye serum, mositurisers and serums with Vitamin C (try to get a 15% Vitamin C product) and a good moisturiser which contains Hyaluronic Acid or the simple Hyaluronic Acid products, such as Viscontour Serum.

Anti-glycation topical skincare id designed to treat, prevent and reverse skin damage caused by releasing the sugar molecule's bond with protein, so permitting the cell to return to its natural shape and state.
