Body Dysmorphic Disorder

How do I look?

Do you suffer from Body Dysmorphic Disorder (or BDD)? BDD is when you/ someone becomes obsessed with their appearance, thinking that they have a lot of defects in their appearance - most of which are imaginary. Some of the suggested symptoms of this are comparing their looks constantly with other people, spending an inordinate amunt of time trying to conceal what they think is a defect, are easily distressed by a particular part of their body (usually, the face), often and/ or are constantly seeking (and usually paying for) medical advice and treatment for perceived defects or may be someone who excessively diets and excercises. As with many conditions, you are not alone. Many aesthetic surgeons and practices are trained to look for these symptoms. Such issues cannot be helped by any form of cosmetic surgery, there is a deeper, underlying issue which needs to be addressed.
